Inside the GCSW
Internal Updates and Initiatives
At the close of the Fall semester, I shared the three foundational components that will shape the future direction of the Graduate College of Social Work: our Values in Action, Pillars of Distinction, and Strategic Priorities. Through dedication and meaningful engagement as a community, we have collectively developed these elements to reflect our shared commitments, elevate what distinguishes the GCSW, and provide a clear roadmap for advancing excellence, impact, and innovation across the College.
Earlier this month, the GCSW was well represented at the 30th Anniversary Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Annual Conference, with over 20 of our faculty, researchers, and students presenting. We also celebrated the induction of Associate Professor, Dr. Samira Ali, as a 2026 Society for Social Work and Research Fellow. Dr. Ali joins esteemed GCSW colleagues Dr. Quenette Walton and Dr. Robin Gearing—in attaining the prestigious rank of SSWR fellow.
